About Us

 

Dr Amaia Irizar is the Director and Principal Toxicology Consultant at FBS, bringing over 25 years of professional expertise in toxicology across research, industry, independent consultancy, and clinical research. She specialises in human health risk assessment and regulatory toxicology, providing expert guidance to a variety of industrial sectors. Dr Irizar is deeply committed to advancing non-animal testing methods, focusing on the development and application of in vitro and in silico alternatives for risk assessment. She actively contributes to initiatives such as the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing (EPAA).

 

Dr Irizar holds a Pharmacy degree from the University of Navarra and an MSc and PhD in Toxicology from the University of Surrey. She is a EUROTOX Registered Toxicologist and a Chartered Biologist accredited by the UK Royal Society of Biology. Dr Irizar is a full member of several prominent organisations, including the British Toxicology Society (BTS), European Society of Toxicologists (EUROTOX), US Society of Toxicology (SOT), American College of Toxicology (ACT), American Society for Cellular and Computational Toxicology (ASCCT), European Society for Toxicology In Vitro (ESTIV), and the Royal Society of Biology.
